I doubt that anyone in Russia could make money so easily by doing calligraphy. No such heroes! Calligraphy in the post Soviet land is for selected few, who use it to maintain emotional balance and harmony with the surrounding world. Calligraphy and moneymaking are two separate notions in our understanding. The situation is apparently different in America. Talented Holly Dickens is a bright example of that. After creative director of Needham, Harper & Steers offered Holly to complete a big lettering campaign for Sears, everyone in America knew her work. Since then, for over 20 years she has been successfully bringing letters to life for more than 50 famous ad agencies in US including Coca-Cola, Intel, Kraft Foods,Clairol, Warner Bros., Hyatt, Sprint, Nabisco, Guiness, Hallmark, Barron’s, Proctor & Gamble, Mercury, Universal Pictures, Johnson & Johnson, Visa and McDonald’s. ![]()
