#1 (33) 2005 Iranian DesignEditors Letter
Our life is full of discoveries. Approximately a dozen years ago European design seemed to me terra incognito. Today it is clearer about design of
Europe and America. But there are still places where doves seldom fly from. Recently we released issue about Indian design. It was amazing issue, totally
different from what we have published before that.
Now, it is Iranian design. The most shaking discovery for me is Iranian designers ability to design graphic things using the most vivid texture – Iranian
font. Ornate lettering is self-sufficient thing and it not needs any design dressing. Ornate lettering as the calligraphy placed on a sheet of paper forms
its space. Composition itself is finished and perfect. It is interesting what happens beyond the direct typographic tasks. Illustration is romantic in
Eastern manner. And artist book of Human Murtavazi charms. The issue is different and inspired.
